Frequently Asked Questions
Everything you need to know about Camp Alegría
What ages do you serve?
Camp Alegría summer camps are designed for children ages 5–12. For our Camp Alegría seasonal camps, we serve children ranging from 2.5 months through 12 years old. If you have any questions about age groups or which program may be the best fit for your child, please don't hesitate to reach out—we're happy to help.
What should my child bring to camp?
Please send your child with a water bottle, weather-appropriate clothing (including layers), closed-toe shoes, sunscreen, a hat for outdoor activities, and a packed lunch. We provide all materials for activities, including cooking ingredients and art supplies. Once your child is enrolled, we always share additional details and reminders, along with more information as the start date approaches.
Is food included?
Food is not provided. Families are fully responsible for sending a packed lunch and any snacks for their child each day. Some sessions include cooking activities where children may prepare food as part of the program. However, we still require parents to pack their child's lunch and follow all allergy and safety precautions. This information is always shared with families during enrollment, and we review food and allergy guidelines in detail once your child is enrolled.
What if my child has allergies or dietary restrictions?
We take allergies and dietary restrictions very seriously. Please inform us of any allergies or restrictions during registration. We'll work with you to ensure your child can participate safely in all activities, including cooking and eating.
What is your cancellation policy?
We understand plans can change. Full refunds are available up to 14 days before camp starts. Cancellations made 7-13 days before camp receive a 50% refund. Unfortunately, we cannot offer refunds for cancellations made less than 7 days before camp begins. Medical emergencies are handled on a case-by-case basis. No refunds will be issued for cancellations made within one week of the camp start date or after the start of a session. The $100 reservation fee (per child, per session) is non-refundable.
Are camps bilingual?
Yes. Camp Alegría uses a bilingual approach. Our staff is bilingual and naturally incorporates Spanish into day-to-day activities, helping children learn and practice Spanish in an engaging, meaningful way throughout the day.
What is your child-to-staff ratio?
Camp Alegría follows DELC center-based child-to-staff ratios, as we are a licensed center. Ratios are maintained at all times to ensure safety, supervision, and age-appropriate care. Ratios can vary slightly from session to session based on dates and enrollment, and classrooms may fill differently depending on enrollment.
Do you offer extended care or early drop-off?
Extended care or early drop-off options may be available depending on the camp session and location. These options are offered for an additional fee. Please contact us to discuss your specific needs, and we'll do our best to accommodate your schedule.
What safety measures do you have in place?
Safety is our top priority. All staff members are background-checked, CPR and First Aid certified, and trained in child safety and supervision protocols. Our facilities are licensed and secure, with controlled access and strict pick-up and drop-off procedures. We maintain detailed allergy, medical, and emergency contact information for every camper, follow health and sanitation guidelines, and conduct regular headcounts and transitions throughout the day. Clear emergency procedures are in place, and staff are trained to respond calmly and effectively in all situations.
How do I know which camp is right for my child?
Every child is different! Browse our camp descriptions to see which themes interest your child most. You can also contact us to discuss your child's interests, age, and any special considerations. We're happy to help you find the perfect fit.
What happens if my child needs to leave early or arrives late?
We understand that schedules can be unpredictable. Please notify us in advance if your child will arrive late or need to leave early. We ask that you check in and communicate for both arrivals and departures to ensure your child's safety.
Do you offer sibling discounts?
Yes! We offer sibling discounts for most camps, and they are automatically applied when you register multiple children. Please note that sibling discounts do not apply to seasonal break camps (Spring Break, Winter Break, etc.). Contact us for details.
